Company History

Independent Safety Services Limited was formed by Alan Johns in 1996, to provide Health & Safety Consultancy services, with a particular focus on transportation issues.

The company’s core expertise was originally in driver safety training, road traffic accident investigation services, vehicle safety inspections and coach tour operator safety (UK & world-wide).

In 2001, ISSL gained a ‘Framework Agreement’ with the NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency for the provision of Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) Services to NHS Organisations throughout the country.

This aspect of our business has grown steadily and we now act for over 60 NHS Trusts and various Private Healthcare organisations, delivering DGSA and Waste Management advisory services.

Responding to client demand, we now offer a full range of workplace Health & Safety services, including audits, training, fire safety and display screen equipment (DSE) risk assessments.

In 2009, ISSL merged with Safety & Access Limited, a long standing associate company. Now sharing a number of Directors who have worked together for many years, we look forward to continued expansion.
